Holiday Party Ideas

Everyone loves a holiday party, so if you're still in the planning stages, or wondered if there was still time, here are some easy ideas for all ages........

A Caroling Party - How much fun and what a great way to bring in the Christmas holiday!  Keep it simple with pre-recorded music, and have everyone bring their favorite Christmas treat to share.  Your own Christmas decorations become the party decorations! Who doesn't love karaoke--you just may find out you're friends with the next America Idol! Remember--you don't have to leave the house to go a caroling!

A Holiday Cocktail Party - Once again, your own Christmas decorations become the backdrop for this get together.  Start with a signature drink, and build on it, but be sure to offer both non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages for everyone, and keep the menu simple with finger food hors d'oeuvres.  Cheese balls have become the retro "new again" item, so throw in two or three of these, and your guests are sure to have a blast.

The Ugly Sweater Party -  Doesn't everyone have one (or two)!  What a fun way to see who shows up in the "ugliest" (or shall we say 'unique') holiday sweater.  Plan a few party group games like charades, and your home will be filled with laughter....for all the right reasons.

The Christmas Cookie Swap - Everyone loves this kind of party.  No only is it a chance to show off your own "masterpiece", but it's a great time to catch up with friends you haven't seen in a while, and scoop some new recipes for your own delight!  This can be done in the afternoon as well as the evening....just keep it simple and watch the interchange of recipes and ideas!

The Christmas "White Elephant" Gift Exchange......well, who among us hasn't received that gift that we have no idea what to do with?  Here's the perfect opportunity to "give" it to someone who just might love it!  Put them all under the tree, and take turns picking out that perfect gift for yourself!  This is always fun and gets everyone into the Christmas spirit!

Marshmallow Roast - Do you have a big fireplace?  Backyard fire pit?  This is the perfect time to invite your friends and neighbors over for a good old fashioned marshmallow roast....and step it up one more level, creating smores.......oh my!

Remember.......it doesn't have to be fancy.......it doesn't take weeks or months to plan.  Just get on the phone, send emails, and invite the people over who mean something to you, and just have fun!  Celebrate the holidays......the gathering of friends and family is what really matters!
